  Thallus brownish to olive-green, corticate, pseudocyphellate. Ascomata solitary, subglobose, immersed to erumpent from the substratum, often partly to almost completely covered by the thallus, c. 0.3–0.5 mm diam. Ascomatal wall with crystals, to 100 μm thick, often not fully carbonised; ostiole apical, pale. Hamathecium not inspersed with oil droplets, IKI+ orange. Ascospores 8 per ascus, irregularly biseriate, grey to brown, 3–5-septate, fusiform, with rounded ends, 24–32 × 10–15 μm; lumina occasionally angular, usually ±rounded; terminal lumina separated from the exospore by a thick endospore layer; old spores containing globules of an orange oily substance.
CHEMISTRY: No substances detected.
     
  Widespread in eastern Qld and N.S.W.; also on Christmas Island, Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island. Mainly pantropical, usually seen in open, coastal habitats.
